In Antiquity there were three separate populations used for (war) elephants:
- Indian: Indians, Persians, Macedonians, Seleucids;
- Ethiopian: Ptolemies, Kushites, Axumites;
- Libyan: Carthaginians, Numidians, Romans.
Ancient historians make it clear African (Ethiopian and Libyan) war elephants were no match for their Asian (Indian) counterparts (Polybius 5.84, Livy 37.39). To reflect that, and to differentiate civilizations in game, this patch gives:
- maur, pers, sele champion elephants +10% resource costs, training time, health, and attack damage;
- cart, kush, ptol champion elephants −10% resource costs, training time, health, and attack damage.
This makes makes the former 22% more costly and powerful (1.1 / 0.9).
