Currently players have a choice between a pair of wall technologies:
- “Rubble Materials” gives city walls −20% build time, −1 crush armor.
- “Geometric Masonry” gives city walls +10% build time, +2 crush armor.
They're available to all civilizations, however:
- They can't be researched at Iberian walls (presumably because they start with them), though Iberians can research the technology at wall towers captured from other civilizations, and the Iberian starting walls do benefit from them.
- They can be researched at the Roman siege wall tower, though siege walls are unaffected by them.
This seems wrong.
Now the Britons and Gauls have walls that visibly made from rubble, whereas Carthage etc. have walls that visibly consist of geometric masonry, therefore this choice breaks immersion.
Moreover, a build time reduction is mostly useful prior to building them, but they're researched at finished wall towers, so the choice is obvious (a difference of three crush armour means it takes rams effectively 37% longer to destroy them).
In short, I'm questioning the entire concept and I believe it's better to simply delete these technologies, hence this patch.
