So... it's a bit weird, but I think I got a performance increase in Atlas, when not in play mode.
other than that LGTM and seems to work.

Works on my machine, preserves the "fish-hack".
I think at this point you might consider removing the "real depth" setting entirely, it's pretty much free with refraction and it looks _so_ much better that it's not funny.
