Alright I understand that there are some technical limitation that prevent this patch from achieving the desired effect.

In the limited amount of testing for a26 I’ve done, I’ve found merc cav to still be problematic. I think this is a step in the right direction

leave antialiasing as it was due to it not being supported on mac and since there being no nice fallback in that case.
