Disable transparency for performance on some helmets. Don't use parallax, as it does nothing but artifacts on normals with no alpha channel.
EOL to native.

Couldn't it be kept for maxed details and disabled just for lower ones?
Or is performance so bad?

If it is parallax, it's useless, because it uses uses alpha as transparency and those models don't have a normal map with an alpha (transparency) channel.
If you mean transparency, those models don't have transparent parts, so it just forces the renderer to render more geometry, in hopes there will be some blending.
