Summary

Currently all citizen infantry has the same total resource costs (100), training time (10), and resource gather rates; however, they have different movement speeds, which means faster units (e.g. javelinists) are much more efficient gatherers than slower ones (e.g. pikemen).
This has been pointed out numerous times on the forums, the latest at https://wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?/topic/26012-task-animations-re-export-and-unit-meshes-fix/page/19/#comments

This patch removes the walking speed differences for all citizen infantry, making them all equally effective gatherers (female citizens, slaves, and healers already have the same speed). This is a gameplay balance change, therefore presumably controversial.

See D2884 for an alternative proposal.

Test Plan

Think about it, launch a couple of games, and decide whether it solves more issues than it creates.

It has sense to make their speed same while they are in gathering resources mode only. Keeping their speed advantage in fight (moving but not gathering res as lower armor for example) should still stay.

I fully support this change, including for combat behaviour. Champions can be made arbitrarily slower.
That being said, it is controversial, so I'm merely stating my opinion here.

I cannot agree with these changes.

it is not historically accurate.

Javelins cant be a raid unit;
Fanatics would be useless;
Pikemen would be very op;
Etc...

@Nescio what about use this patch like D2596? Makes sense to do the same for infantry.

The alternative D2884/rP23895 has been committed today, therefore this patch is no longer relevant.
