Details

Summary

This patch bring champion cavalry back to temple and reduce cost of colonization tech.

One of the changes I regret was putting Champion Cartago in the stable. For me it doesn't make sense to have one in the temple and another in the stable. These champions were quite religious and I think it is interesting for the gameplay to have them in the temples.

The temple is more expensive now, but colonization technology is cheaper.

Test Plan

Agree that this is an improvement to gameplay.

I'd say leave the temple cost the same. 300 stone is already prohibitive enough in my opinion. The idea is that you can start training them fairly quickly once in p3, but it will be very hard to mass them since its hard to get a lot of temples.

Likes: Moving the Champ Cav back to the Temple & Reducing cost of Colonization

Disagree: Increased cost of Temple. I 100% agree with @real_tabasco_sauce. If it's a civ bonus, let it be a bonus. And as he says, 300 stone is already expensive.

Suggestion: Perhaps give a better description to what "Civic Structures" are in the Colonization tech tooltip "(Civic Centers, Temples, and Houses).

+1 this term always confused me

OK, I'll make the changes. I thought about bringing the market to phase 1 for Cartago as a civ bonus, this is very justified historically and could create a new variety of gameplay, especially in TG games.

Well we have already moved the apartments to p1. Our differentiation shouldn’t be to just move things to p1 so often. The main thing is that there wouldn’t be all that much to do in the market in p1 that would be worth the 300 wood.

I’d be interested in giving Carthage a “trade colony” in p2. I t should be like a market and mercenary colony, so training traders and a subset of the mercs available from embassies. Then one could give the building some trade boost: cheaper/faster training traders, or maybe +15% resources from each incoming trader.

I liked the idea of a commercial camp. Well my idea was to also move the traders to era 1, that way you can start a trade earlier, both for 1v1 and tg. But I think I agree with you, we should go slow with moving things to p1.

"Civic Structures (Civic Center, Temples, and Houses) −25% build time and resource costs."

^suggested tooltip wording. Is this satisfactory @chrstgtr ?

@borg- , make sure to mind the tense of verbs and nouns. This is one of the difficulties with English, I admit.

Clear to me, thanks!
